One the major facet in Goa which still has to get its due credit is the enchanting wildlife of the state. ·       Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary – Sprawling on an area of 240 sq km, this is Goa’s largest wildlife sanctuary located at Molem village, which is just 55 km from Panaji. Surrounded by evergreen forests, the wildlife sanctuary is a perfect place to relax. You can reach this wildlife destination conveniently by taking up tour packages from Mumbai or many places close by. Herds of elephants, deers and occasional sighting of tigers are the major attraction. This sanctuary is home to numerous black panthers as well. If interested you can also explore the 13th century Mahadev temple at Tambdi, which is just 12 km from the sanctuary.

Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary
– Located just 60 km south of Panaji, Cotigao is a popular and second largest wildlife sanctuary in Goa. Varieties of tour packages from Bangalore to Goa are available which includes a trip to this beautiful wildlife destination. Sloth bears, hyena, wild board, deers and varieties of reptiles and monkeys can be sighted here. The wildlife sanctuary covers an area of 86 sq km and is ideal for a day trip. However, government rest house along with a few small hotels is available but bookings should be made well in advance. The tree top watch tower is a not to be missed place as from here one can enjoy splendid view of the sanctuary.
Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary

·      Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary – Among all the wildlife hubs in Goa, Bondla wildlife sanctuary is the smallest one, but is blessed with the most exotic blend of flora and fauna. Goa tourism department has set up cottages for those interested to take up Bondla wildlife sanctuary tours. Tiny zoo, elephant rides, botanical garden and a small nature education centre are some of the prime attractions here. On your holiday or honeymoon trip to Goa, tourists can not only enjoy a calm holiday but also indulge in safaris to keep themselves occupied. The park remains closed on Thursday.
